Hahaha... so what is it to an outsider looking in? An "official press release" or a "leak"? Because I don't know which term accurately describes my situation in your book, let alone possibly more than half the people in this thread.

At any rate, as I said... back to the topic at hand.

sounds way better than anything GW has on it now. i got sick of GW in several months due to not enough things to acquire and lvl restrictions. gvg wasnt interesting since i'm a pve'er but raids sound delicious.

definitely would like to see the progress on this new development.

look, you are taking this to seriously, I have no problem with you man so chill. leak refers to when info comes out when they dont want it to be out, since this info was put out through an offical interview, it is very far from being leaked.

as for whats in this thread, no the first post doesnt say enough. the article is 13 pages long, while the first post is a few paragraphs

I hope they decide to make Tengu a playable race.. I'm surprised they left them out considering how popular they became and the roll they play in Factions. Me want mah Tengu Otherwise I'll be one of those cute little freakish things.

Oh by the way was there any pictures of what the Nom and the other playable race looks like?

To sum up the post that everbody probably missed, I think the super-high level cap is an extremely bad idea. And there's no good reason behind it either. It's just about how players want to show off. Satisfy their egos. The level cap in GW was perfect, it had a good reason for being there. I really really urge Anet to change this back, GW had it right. I can only pity those that want a mainstream MMO with tons of levels. Veterancy shouldn't be about levels.

The game should be about diversity and skill, not about mind-numbing numbers of levels and grinding.

It's all up to interpretation at any rate, unless people want to get PC. In which case that is lame, because through context clues my meaning was clear. Anyway...

Does any one wonder if GW:EN might have a CE release?

Agreed. And I pray that they keep the original professions and make each race capable of being whatever the player wants...

Yeah, otherwise it would be like in 2nd edition Dungeons and Dragons... That wouldn't be good.

I personally feel it is far to early to even speculate as to what Anet is actually going to do with the leveling system...I mean it's 2 or more years away from release....a lot can happen between now and then. As far as transferring things imo, I would like if you could leave enough gold to buy the first set of max armor for your character kind of like an inheritance, but that wouldn't really be to big of a deal compared to titles....I would deff like to see titles carried over which I'd imagine they will be.....and minipets! I like my kuunavang and bonedragon!

I read this thread with much interest, as much as i will be disapointed with the inability to use my characters in GW2, I will still buy GW2 as i love GW.

What i find most annoying here is that the magazine this info is in is American and i therefore have no access to it as i live in the UK, why i find this annoying is that the thread specifically tells us that we should read this for accurate information, that its easy to get and that it shoudl not be reproduced as that is illegal.

The Question i have is this article going to be in issue 180 or 181 of PC Zone, as the former is out on the 29th and the latter on April 26th,

Personally at this moment in time i would just like to know exactly what the article says and why a lot of people are complaining,

I don't think you realise how much more work it would be to make the sprites from GW1 compatible with GW2. I think that's the reason that a full import is not going to be possible. Titles and equipment are easy. Titles are just a bit of text, and equipment just requires a basic model. But character sprites need to be able to run, walk, attack, do all the emotes, jump and swim. And all sorts of other things. The last two (jumping and swimming) should be taken special note of. GW1 doesn't have a Z axis (or Y axis, if you prefer to think of it that way). GW1 sprites will just not be compatible with the new engine. That is why characters cannot be ported accross.

What I don't understand is why you don't just create a new character that is as close to the old one as possible. You'll have the name reserved through the Hall of Monuments. I'm sure the new sprites will have features that make them look pretty close to your old characters. Sure, it won't be the exact same character, but it's near enough.

Just another thing to all those complaining about how Anet lied. They didn't. They said it was their goal to release a new campaign every six months. They've obviously realised that this system doesn't work with where they want the game to go.

Indeed

Like i said in my post earlier theres no point in complaining about new features,
the thing is i feel like i paid for 3 chapters of beta testing that i love and now they announce that the real game is coming out...

I know. It's kinda gnawing at you. Will they fall prey to the temptation of making a WoW-wannabe (or imitating any of it's features)? I sincerely hope not.

High level cap just isn't Guild Wars... It would destroy some of it's uniqueness IMO. It was brave enough to go with a low level cap, and I love that. I can only hope the devs won't sacrifice that.

Honest question to the people who are upset that their "investment" is somehow not worth anything now...

How long did you really expect the to last, and do you really know with complete certantity where you will be in 2009/2010?

Understand, I am not attacking or flaming anyone. I am not starting an argument. I am honestly curious here. You all seem very upset but...

I can tell ya, in the immortal words of Ferris "Life moves pretty fast" 2 years is a very long time. At that point, GW will be 4 years old. How many games have you played without change for 4 years? My answer? None. Other than my old school nintento 64 games but they really aren't the same type at all lol.

Then there's the cost complaint. 3 campaigns and 1 expansion in 4 years....what around $200? $50- a year or so...considering how much fun I've had with my guy and our friends playing gw...damn good imho. Worth every penny and more. Loved it. I mean personally, I didn't buy this expecting Anet to somehow suspend time and my chars to be immortal, to be playing them when I'm 70. You say we are paying customers, very true...but what are you paying for? I paid for a fun game. I got it. It did not come with a 10 year guarantee did it? I don't feel my chars or accomplishments are worthless because gw2 is in 2 years....life doesn't have a guaranteed time span either

Yeah I'll be sad to let my babys go but...cest la vive ya'll. Things change, life is impermanent and at least in my expeirence...change can be really fun

For God's sake people, first wait until you read the article...then start flaming, or even quitting...I just got my copy, and read the article. I must say, it is simply amazing, and until an hour ago, I hated GW2, and now I cannot wait for it...JUST CLOSE THOSE MOUTHS FOR NOW...READ THE ARTICLE...THEN GIVE YOU OPINION...sorry for caps...something else: by the time GW2 comes out, I'm gonna be in university, so I will buy it as a loyalty thing, probably the collector's edition too if that happens, but not gonna play that much.

In the article something about EVENTS is mentioned...It is simply a combination of quests, missions, and social events...read into it.

Also, PCG says the four races mentioned are just some of the playable races, and the number of the races available for play is not yet known (or set) *see yellow box on the top of the races page, actually read all yellow boxes*

***Some facts, some speculation***

Also, it is noted that each race will have a primary ability or power (attribute?)...Although not mentioned, I believe we are going to have, to some degree, a form of map travel with an alternate form of the Tyria Map (planet Tyria, not continent), but it is limited to some form, and the 10 professions seem to appear in GW2 as well, with some differences in balance. Also some races might not be able to use some of the professions, and some new professions specific to the races, which are not available to humans, might come into play. That is all for now.

I have a feeling the high level will be more of a no level thing.. and instead sololy based on attributes... that being said that would make the game even more of the type of game that you people are crying it's "losing" so chill out.

I can't believe the complaints some people are coming up with. First off, we barely know anything about GW2. It's still years away from release. Second, no one will force you to buy it. In fact, if you're not interested in it, I would recommend not buying it. You're more than welcome to stand around in GW1 and flash your rank and your titles for the rest of your life if you so choose. I just don't understand this argument. GW2 will be a "new" game... hello, not expansion, a new game...

You just said "a long time from now GW2. pfft i still havnt even started playing nightfall pve yet" and yet at the same time you're complaining about not having enough time?

Huh huh, D2 was a different game from D1 and the characters didn't transfer over. Exactly? And even if GW1 does become obsolete, that won't be for at least another 2 years - that's 4 years for GW1 - in other words we're only halfway there.

I really don't understand why some people suddenly find GW1 meaningless because an expansion's coming out at the end of the year and GW2 is in early development. If you're not playing GW because it's fun, please stop. If you somehow think ANet owes you constant support and lifetime 6 month chapters for GW1, I am truly, truly sorry for your misunderstanding of the gaming industry and life in general.
